The latest work on this was done by David Kopf to get ContikiMAC
working. I have his code in a branch here:

That was done about a year ago. I do plan to merge this in eventually,
just haven't gotten around to taking another pass on radio cycling
yet.

I haven't seen any work done on ED. But I'm pretty sure Beekit does it
--- that's probably where I'd start looking for clues.
