pinging this address(10.0.0.14) seems to work.  The network is working because 
the internet connection is working from that machine through the network.  
The machine that I'm typing this command on is 10.0.0.3.

I checked both IP addresses with ifconfig - they are correct.

I checked all the cables - they all seem to be connected.

Still getting the same error.
