I still do actually have RH9 on a couple machines, in spite of its age, but run RH Enterprise 3 on my primary box. After scanning the suggestions offered, I was thinking that it might have been a mistake to forge ahead with the RPM business, after not finding gcc. If gcc either isn't where it is supposed to be, or isn't included in $PATH, I would want to fix that first, and also figure out what else... like Perl, maybe... wasn't where it was supposed to be, and why. If one is installing Apache, they might as well just pop the CD in the slot, and and grab the basic set of development tools all at once, just to get started. -- -wittig http://www.robertwittig.com/ .
