Hi, I have a recently upgraded computer with an AMD 64 bit SEMPRON processor. I purchased a DVD set of Debian 3.1 (SARGE) for IA-64 and want to use Sarge as my operating system.
Will my IA-64 version of Sarge install properly on a computer that uses a SEMPRON processor? I have two removable hard drives, and have already set up WinXP on one of them. So, I won't get in too much trouble if an attempt to install SARGE fails. I just wanted to find out if there are any known issues/solutions. After purchasing my version of SARGE, I read a note in www.debian.org/ports that listed a separate version of Sarge specifically for AMD 64-- finding this bit of info prompted my question. thanks for any help or advice you might provide.
