Actually, now that I think about it, I have had a linux box accessing a 
windows share at a redhat course this summer, so its possible.

This is because its not the job of samba, nor its documentation to show you 
how to make a share on a Windows box.

If you don't aready have, try setting a test share in windows, and see if 
you can see it from anotehr windows box. I had some problems with the 
windows XP built in firewall not letting any box aceess shares I set up. 
Other things to check are the permissions of the windows share, and most 
importantly, disable the "simple file sharing" option in windows.
