I think I am beginning to see some light as to why my LAN can not get an
ip address. I will try to format this so it makes sense.

In win xp pro we have "my network places/add a new network." this looks
similar to "Network Share Manager/new" option. Also in freespire when I
expand "my entire network" I see nothing. This leads me to thinking there
is no other place through freespire. Taking the "new" option I see
share location
   computer ;required
   share ;required
   workgroup
login information
   anonymous login ; currently checked
   username ___
   password ___
misc
automatically reconnect at startup ;not currently checked
   description ____

I think what I need to do is answer these questions. But just what to
say eludes me. For computer name, is it asking for the name of the Linux
box? Or the win box? What might I put in the share section? The workgroup
isn't required.
The user name would be either the one required on xp or on freespire
The password must be my root/administrator password.
   Description doesn't matter

Does any of this make sense? Everything was working fine under ubuntu,
but I can't access it because something isn't right with grub, but that is
another problem I am working on and might confuse the issue here.
