No... computers are not people, and they do not function the way
people think.

To a computer, there is no such thing as 'a USB flash disk'... there
is instead a very specifically constructed piece of solid state
storage media, with a precise and exact name, which the plug-and-play
operating system (Ubuntu 5.10 in this case) will attempt to identify,
and find a matching driver for.

If the operating system has an acceptable driver for that specific
'USB flash disk'...

...then the operating system will be able to recognise it, and access
the data on the device...

...else... the device will fail to be recognised.
