Yes, with the proviso that they either provide you with a normal modem,
or you are able to purchase a normal modem that will work with the service.

I am running SBC-Yahoo-ATT DSL, which is PPPoE, and I am running a 7
machine LAN with two servers with static addresses, and 5 other machines
all NAT'ed to a single static IP, and everything (Linux Red Hat,
OpenBSD, and Windows 2000) are up and running fine.

I did have to trash the crappy modem SBC sent me, and replace it with a
Netopia Router/Modem. I also did have to do some RTFM and Googling, to
figure out the right setups for Red Hat (easy) and OpenBSD (a bit trickier).

As was mentioned by Brad, forget about support for your *nix boxes, but
then, if you are running *nix, you probably know more about what is
going on than the support people.

Set up a second computer, or if you can't do that, set up *nix in dual
boot mode.

First, get the Windows installation running. Then, you can mess with the
*nix setup, and see if someone on the list might be using the same
provider, but really, if the modem supports DHCP (most do) it is
ridiculously easy... just install *nix to look for DHCP when it boots,
and it will, and it will find your modem, and the modem will assign your
*nix box an IP addy and a couple DNS IP's automatically, and you will be
on-line without having to do anything.
