Are you using lilo or grub to boot?
I am guessing you have a malformed clause.

You need a rescue CD. Several exist on the net. Your install CDROMs,
if you have them, can probably also be used in resue mode; RedHat and
fedora ones can be.

You boot off the rescue CDROM, mount the /boot filesystem, fix your
grub.conf, and then reboot to try the new config. With lilo it's a bit
trickier.

Tell us more about your system. If you can show us your grub.conf or
lilo.conf that would be helpful.
