Mine works like a rocket. (Red Hat Enterprise 3 WS)

All I have in /etc/resolv.conf is:


; generated by /sbin/dhclient-script
nameserver 192.168.1.254
search localdomain


...which is the LAN-side address for my Netopia DSL Modem/Router.

The router has the actual nameserver addys on the WAN-side, so my NAT'ed 
machines don't need to know the actual nameserver IP's
