A very dated, RH oriented tutorial of mine is still up at

However, these days, almost all distros use iptables rather than
ipchains.  (My article has a few links to iptables things as well).

The article above is definitely dated, however, and I haven't maintained
it at all--still, it ~might~ help get you started.
