Look... first, I pointed out to the individual, what I thought needed to be pointed out to the individual... whether you think so or not. Then, I went on to answer the individuals question, where such tutorials could be found, while at the same time, providing the 'means of discovery' ...a Google search... which can be used again and again, for finding many things. Then I went on to explain ipchains vs. iptables, and how to search the manpages for both, exposing the individual to yet another tool... the 'man' command... which also can be used again and again, for finding many things. All in all... I submit to you that my post was significantly more useful than yours, which addressed the individual's question not at all. Even if my attitude was, in your opinion, out of line, I provided actual, usable content, and at the same time, tried to show the person 'how to fish', as opposed to just handing them a single fish.
