Yeah, I was pretty experienced prior to entering *nix-world, as well.

I began computing in the early 1980s and was online by the mid-1980s.

I got into coding (BASIC, QuickBasic, and C) in DOS, and by the time
moved into *nix, my Windows box was running Perl, Apache, vi and a bunch
of other *nix ports.

This did make the transition somewhat easier, but I still had a shitload
of stuff to learn, and in fact, I still have a shitload to yet learn,
but that is a function of my doing a lot more with *nix now, doing
things like managing my own OpenBSD servers, Apache and sendmail, having
Samba up and running, and doing an increasing amount of scripting and
coding.

You don't have to do anything at my behest... I'm just another
listmember. I suggested you try Thunderbird because it is a
multi-platform, Open Source MUA, and it works pretty well, and is highly
configurable.

I also run Windows. I have Win2k Pro on my graphics workstation, and Win
3.11 on an older OS/2 installation. I also have Windows XP and Vista
Beta2/ RC1, as I did a little testing on that, because most of my
clients run Win XP, and I have to stay current in order to provide
support. Personally I don't use XP for anything much though, except
test-installs for clients, and occasionally for myself, if I have a
piece of software I want to check out w/o installing on my Win2k box,
which is mission critical, and I don't like 'surprises' on.
