You joined this list presumably because you wanted to learn about Linux
from Linux users. Part of the Linux experience is the operating itself.
another part of the Linux experience... indeed, the entire *nix
Experience writ large, for those of us also running BSD OS's and other
UNIX variants... is the concept of a 'community of users', which is
composed of a core of user/developers, and outer shells of users of
varying degrees of expertise, ranging from extremely experienced users,
to total newbies.
The developers and extremely experienced users take the place of the
documentation that OS's like Windows and Mac provide. In the *nix
communities, you actually have the opportunity to ask the people who
wrote the code, and developed the protocols... but you have to
Understand, these people are sorta-kinda busy earning a living doing
this, so it is the polite thing to do, to read the FAQ when you join a
community list, to see what information they have prepared for the
listmembers, explaining the basics, and outlining list Netiquette.
You will find the LINUX_Newbies FAQ, Netiquette section, at:
http://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu/linfaq.html#netiquette
You might also want to read the general email netiquette FAQ:
http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1855.html
It's Ok with me if you want to ignore the list FAQ, and the generally
accepted rules of one-to-many email communications. Eventually, though,
you will start asking yourself the question stated in the FAQ:
"Q:Nobody is answering my questions. What's wrong with this list?"
....located at: ttp://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu/linfaq.html#Nobody
Just so you know... most MUA's are configurable, and the cursor in a
reply can be set in more than one place.
I see that you are running: X-Mailer: IncrediMail (5202479)
....which is a Windows-only MUA, apparently with all sorts of eye candy,
and probably rife with all sorts of exploitable scripting holes in it,
For the skript-kiddies to practice on. It may very well not have a way
to customise where the cursor sits in the 'reply' form... I don't know.
What I do know, is that at present, if you migrate to Linux, or any
Other *nix OS, you will not be able to run it. You might want to check
Out Thunderbird.
So on this list you set what people use for mail as well as give advice.
Sounds like a dictatorship but I can leave if you wish.
