You can try making your own loopback plug by connecting two wires from the
tx to the rx in an RJ45 connector. If the link light comes on then it should
be good. You can also try pinging the loopback/home address (127.0.0.1). If
both of these work then you should be able to hook them up through a
crossover cable.
