I am new to Linux and very new to the RAID world.
For a small-to-midrange(80-195 users) enterprise suggestions and
recommendations are required for the following
1) Mail Server(Postfix)
1a) what would be the best and recommended RAID-level(1 or 5) of the
volume for the Linux OS ?
1b) what would be the best and recommended RAID-level(1 or 5) for
the volume that contains user's mailboxes ?
I am sharing my own plan
for (1a)
Linux OS "/" raid-level 1: /dev/md0 (/dev/sda1, /dev/sdb1, /dev/sdc1)
here /dev/sdc1 is spare
for (1b)
mailboxes(/var/spool/mail) raid-level 1: /dev/md1
(/dev/sdd1, /dev/sde1, /dev/sdf1)
here /dev/sdf1 is spare
for my enterprise speed(read/write) is more important then
redundancy.
