This looks VERY much like a homework question, so I'm going to give
homework help (as opposed to doing it for you) type answers.

Why? Remember your last sentence, speed is more important than
redundancy. What is RAID-1? Will writing to two disks increase write
speed?

Also, what is sdc1 doing? Is it also mirroring or is it just sitting
there in case one of the other disks fail?

I would ask the same question about your second choice (which I'm
snipping, as it's basically the same answer.)

Note what you wrote here....

Another clue that it is probably a homework question--most businesses
hate to buy that one extra disk if you don't demonstrate that you need
it.

Note to posters for the future. In general we frown upon homework
questions, though if you say, I have this and I'm lost in figuring out
the reason, many people will help. We are also, in general,
understanding when your boss suddenly requires something which you don't
know how to do. Generally speaking, honesty about the situation is more
likely to get an answer, since many of us stay on these lists because we
like helping people.

Buffy: Yeah, does it ever get easy?
Giles: What do you want me to say?
Buffy: Lie to me.
Giles: Yes. It's terribly simple. The good guys are always s
talwart and true. The bad guys are easily distinguished by their
pointy horns or black hats, and we always defeat them and save
the day. No one ever dies... and everyone lives happily ever
after.
Buffy: Liar.
