I think you need to take into consideration that when you first began
using the windows apps that you are familiar with, that it was slow and
probably clunky and took you awhile to get used to them and become
productive. It is true that there are no exact replicas of windows
apps in the Linux world. You must expect to have to learn new apps.
Once you have worked with them you will grow accustomed to them and
they will be as easy to use as your old windows apps. I find GIMP to
be a very well built application perfectly suitable for professional
use. There are also many HTML editors that rival windows apps - but
they take time to learn.
