I've installed (I think) 11 different distros on a P3 500 MHz computer with 512 MB RAM and have only seen it run slower (than Windows XP) when I installed Mandriva. I purposely used this old PC with these Linux versions to see how Linux would function. Right now this old system is running CentOS 5.2. Before that I had tried OpenSuSE, Fedora 9, Xubuntu, Ubuntu, Gentoo, DebianSmallCD, PCLinuxOS, Mepis 7.0, eLive, Mint and Freespire. Ubuntu was probably easiest to use. DD
