Thanks for all of your replies. I appreciate it very much. It looks like keeping XP and installing Linux Mint in a dual boot setup is the way I'll start. My wireless card is a Broadcom 1390 wlan. I did a quick google but didn't find whether this card is supported out of the box by Mint. Does anyone know or have a link to a Howto to get this card working? My wireless router is a Linksys with dd-wrt v24 firmware. I will let you know how I am making out.
