On my ST-3WT geode system I have the same problem with the onboard
RTL8139B. I looked at getpir and surprisingly it does not work. The
pirq table is dumped correctly and it seems it's even loaded, but
it appears to be the wrong table.
getpir outputs VID/DID 1078:0002, DEVFN 0x90 whereas lspci
tells me DEVFN 0x90 is 00:12.0 Class 0601: 1078:0100 (ISA bridge: Cyrix
Corporation 5530 Legacy [Kahlua]).
So the table actually looks like it does not match the system.
Though:
With Award BIOS, the networking adapter works fine on IRQ 10.
With LinuxBIOS and no IRQ table, the adapter has no IRQ (obviously)
With LinuxBIOS and the dumped IRQ table, the adapter gets IRQ 15 and
does not work.
With LinuxBIOS, the dumped IRQ table and the network irq tweaked to 10,
the adapter does not work as well.
In all cases etherboot gets the kernel nicely via network.
I tried looking for another pirq table by skipping DID 0x0002, but there
was none. is the ISA bridge the right device for the IRQ table? or is it
rather the Bridge: Cyrix Corporation 5530 SMI [Kahlua] or the host
bridge?
Best regards,
