The two main arguments I have for switching to Linux are:

- Stablity.

Even non geeks don't like the fact that their computer randomly
locks up when running Windows. That's just for the end user. If
you're a system manager, I think that's already been discussed
  to death.

- Cost

Even if you buy RedHat or whatever other Distro so you get the
support (which most home users/newbies would probably want),
you're Total Cost of Ownership (I love using a M$ marketing term
when arguing against them), is going to go down. If you're a home
user, once you're comfortable enough, you can just not pay the
for the "Official" <insert distribution here> and just get the
  cheap $3.00 CD.

Sort of on topic, one of the arguments I've heard against switching to
Linux is that all the years of experience using the Windows interface
will go to waste when switching over. That's no longer the case with
Gnome/KDE, so that is really not a valid point against Linux.

I think that the handout we give to people should list examples of
people who actually use Linux for all their day to day work and
have comments from them on their experience. Specially non-geek/
non-university places.
