Since it is better not to run the system as root, I
have added myself as a user. But when I boot, and try
to login as a user (not as root), the system does not
allow me to login. It allows me to login only as root.
Then I have to su to other user name. Why is it so ?

When I try to start the X-window system, (other then as
root), then the system says that the user does not have
permission to start the X-server. On the other hand
Gnome says that running X as root can damage the file
system. So how do I start the X-window system when NOT
logged in as root.

Thanks.

Raj

P.S. Anybody know of good accounting software for Linux
platform. Right now I am using Tally under DOS. But
seriously thinking to move over completely to Linux, so
need some good accounting software to run under Linux.
BTW, I could not start DOS under Linux with DOSemu.
Maybe I will be able to later, when I get the hang of
it.
