Nice post Sameer.

The biggest shift has already taken place in
userland. You are "networked" via the internet.
In the next 12 to 24 months you would not be
billed for calls and would pay a fixed charge for
24hrs access.

In fact you are now networked with every person
logged on to the net. And the guy/gal-next-door,
is about to get a smart sysadmin via ASPs. The OS
vendor is now a service provider (RH, SuSe,
Caldera etc.,) to take care of the system.

As far as ease of use goes, if you are using a
standalone system, with pre loaded RH KDE it is
hardly different (look-n-feel) from M$. As
pointed out by Nagarjuna in one of our meets if
the user had to load win from scratch he would
have as many problems.

Ease of use has always been an issue with
everything not just Linux (try programming your
VCR or using some of the features on a SLR
camera).
