Hey all,

Here's a batata newbie question:

In RH and derivatives, Mandrake included, services that need to be started
on boot are handled by /etc/rc.d/init.d scripts, using chkconfig, which
(IMO) is a nice, elegant way of doing things.

Debain 2.2 seems to put them in /etc/init.d, but doesn't have a utility as
evolved as chkconfig. I found something called update-rc.d which adds and
removes services (automatically updating symlinks in rcn.d dirs etc) but
doens't have any way of maintaining the boot priority. chkconfig-compatible
init scripts have priorities mentioned in the comment block of the script.

Anything like this in batata? Adding an init script to boot-time by default
sets priority to 20, which isn't optimal for all services. I removed a
service and re-added it, losing the priorities it was installed with.

Boohoo.

PS: Both Debian binary CDs downloaded. My BYOM offer still stands ;)
