Mail from ILUG-BOM list (Non-Digest Mode) I was just trying to copy a VCD to an SMB mount and found that XMMS started to get sluggish as my CPU usage went up to over 50%. After some tweaking with hdparm, these settings managed to cut down CPU usage to about 25%. XMMS is playing fine again:
