Hi Aditya,

Get two n/w cards...i dont know the cost of a n/w card for laptops but
for a PC u should get it for less than 500 Rs.

If the laptop n/w card cost is exhorbitant then u can connect using the
serial cable.

Assuming u have managed to get the two networked, u can install RH via
nfs. Mount your cd on your PC, export it as nfs and select nfs option
during installation.

Ofcourse u will have to make the root/supp disk to boot your
laptop...ohhhh i just remembered that your fdd doesn't work !!!

Now you have the following options -
1. Get your fdd repaired (Easiest option but will cost money)
2. Get your laptop to boot up via the network thru the serial cable.
   (This is *extremely* time consuming R & D, but will establish u as a
geek ;-)

For the second option, try reading my HOWTO on our site and adapt it for
booting via serial cable....

  i have a 80486 DX 66 mhz laptop with 8 mb ram and 534 mb hdd
,1.44fdd
(which 
is not working),no cdrom drive .
I plan to install redhat 5.0 or slackware on it ,how should i go abt it.
the problem is how do i connect it to my computer to load the OS .
What will be the h/w reqd to get the laptop running on rh5.0?
OR 
 How do i make a simple n/w of my 486 pc and the laptop using min h/w 
and lost cost of reqd h/w .
Help would be a million to me .
