fdisk is also easy to use with some practice (type m for help, you can
always quit without writing on the partition table by q command)

You did it right.. "Mount on" means on which directory(actually filesystem)
the device(hdd) will be mounted. BTW shouldn't "/user" be "/usr"?

I am not sure about this. Because I use Matrox Millenium card. But perhaps
you have to run the SVGA(XF86_SVGA) server. You can post this question in
the linux-x11 mailing list([EMAIL PROTECTED]). Also there are many
docs vailable on the net. Try www.xfree86.org, www.redhat.com for info about
your card.
Also keep note of your Horiz Syn/Vert Sync and other related info for your
monitors after checking your monitor specs.
You can also try to run Superprobe to probe for the video h/w . Atleast by
this way you can run the VGA16(XF86_VGA16) server.

Can you send me the /etc/lilo.conf file to me? Are there any other OS on
your m/c? If yes then send me the details.

By entering the program name as in DOS(and if reqd you have to pass some
parameters).

startx (only if you have configured X properly!)

Sorry boss! I use Linux at my workplace.

Everyone feels that way when they start their Linux venture..
I had the same feeling when I started using Linux just two months back.
Still I consider myself as nerd. But today at least I know where to go for
the reqd info. That's the difference. Don't lose your hearts buddy !
