Got hold of the PCQ RHL6.1. Installation (size: 700M) proceeded without 
any problem, although the the kernel still gave the uncorrectable error.
Did not perform a low level format (Didn't know how to anyway, can you
tell me. There's no such option in the CMOS Setup).
Guess it was just bad luck last time.
Guess my HDD need not be used as a scrap dumpyard, huh? :-)
