I am not too familiar with qmail, but here's some things I know.  For
better security, qmail prefers to store mail in a subfolder of the user's
home directory.  You can configure it to do otherwise.  I think that this
is what may have happened for root at least, so you should check in root's
home directory for Qmail's mail folder.
