Sendmail Problem:

I am getting confused. I don't know whether the problem is complex or
it has been made to look complex. Let us see if I have understood it.

If I have understood the situation, it is as follows: I have two or
three mailboxes (smtp, pop or whatever) somewhere on the net, where I
receive mails. The mails are not spooled on those machines, but
delivered. (strategy will be different if they are spooled on their
servers.) Using my internet connection, say through vsnl. I want
all the mails from the two/three places reach my machine, and send the
mails to different destinations.

If this is the situation, then I would go for fetchmail for retrieval
of mail from different mail boxes, and put them in the spool
/var/spool/mail/user, which becomes the inbox of a program like pine,
and then read them using say pine. Here you can also have a procmail
filter to send the mail to different folders.

For delivering email, your sendmail.cf should have one of the mail
servers of your isp as the smart host. You need to masquerade only
one domain, which is the domain your isp has no problems resolving.
This domain need not be the reply to address. The reply to field can
change, and can be set using your pine.

There is every chance that the situation that you people are
discussing could be different. Did I add more confusion to the
problem?
