That's a sort of Turbo switch. There are several CD's that will only work
on slower drives, so the switch does this for you. Not sure if it
increases or decreases the speed though, but the CDROM LED changes from
green to orange when you press it (and toggles back when you press it
again).

BTW, Weird is spelt weird. Not trying to be picky here (I make many typos
too), but I've noticed that almost everyone who's written that word in a
mail to me has spelt it wrong. `Wierd' would be pronounced similar to
wired wot?
