Of course, WIN98 on P-60 is a tragedy, but RHL 6.1 doesnot match EVEN that
performance on my PC!!
Following are timing for StarOffice 5.0 on my m/c with following config-
(Machine: P-60, 32MB, 1.3 GB HDD, 64 MB Swap, SIS6215C @2MB VRAM)
Time for appearance of SO logo = 15/40/45 sec on
W98/Linux-Afterstep/Linux-Enlightment
Time for appearance of SO desktop = 25/50/80 sec on
W98/Linux-Afterstep/Linux-Enlightment
Time for loading 24K Excel file = 20/25/40 sec on
W98/Linux-Afterstep/Linux-Enlightment
As I understand linux is suposed to be faster than W98 & that is why I am
trying to use Linux.
What could be the reason for such poor performance on my Linux box? How Do I
tweak it?
