Squid only works for HTTP. For standard packet relaying, try this
IP chains config. I recommend keeping this in /etc/rc.d/rc.fw and
calling it from rc.local:

/sbin/depmod -a
/sbin/modprobe ip_masq_ftp
/sbin/modprobe ip_masq_icq
/sbin/modprobe ip_masq_irc
/sbin/modprobe ip_masq_quake
/sbin/modprobe ip_masq_raudio

/sbin/ipchains -P forward DENY
/sbin/ipchains -A forward -j MASQ -s 192.168.1.0/24 -d 0.0.0.0/0
/sbin/ipchains -M -S 600 30 120

--

Note that the ip_masq_icq module is not distributed with the
kernel. Get it from freshmeat.
