Answering the original question - only some models of iriver play ogg
by default. Rest require a better os. :)

I'll elaborate ... almost all low-end flash-based players (256/512MB)
of iRiver play ogg files by default. But some of them can only be
managed by proprietory Doze-ware (particularly T20/T30/some models of
T10). The red words to look for with unsupported players is MTP (Media
Transfer Protocol) and Janus. If specs *boast* of MTP/Janus support -
better to stay away!!! OTH, if it claims UMS support you're safe.

IMO, the best bet in iRiver is the iFP-series (particularly iFP-795):

These work out-of-the-box with linux; and there is an open-source
driver too ( http://ifp-driver.sourceforge.net/ ); and a Rockbox port
in-progress.

As far as the T10 is concerned, the latest versions released in USA/UK
are MTP only - not sure about the version available in India!

If you wan't a high-end hdd-player (5-40GB) then iRiver is a lost
cause. H10 which is available in India doesn't support ogg, and
H1xx/H3xx which do aren't available :-(
