Thanks for writing in Erle,

  I did get the HDD and connected it to my machine. It
seems like the HDD has bad sectors. Now, even a "fdisk
-l" refuses to work with innumerable io errors.

  Will have to bury the poor one. Am trying to recover
the data on it. Any ideas???. It has am ext3
partition.
