Use gnash, it allows saving videos. Right click, Edit -> Preferences -> Media -> Save media streams to disk. Also Adobe plugin saves youtube videos in /tmp which should be the case for chrome as well. You might want to check the latest snapshots as a bug that prevented playing youtube videos is fixed recently.
