Applied, but with trivial fixups due to the drop patches.  Also, I
left off tmv_to_Timestamp because there are no users yet, but I will
introduce that for the NSM series soon.

Thanks a lot for this series.  This last patch will keep us from
mis-using the tmv typed variables ever again!
