The EFF is held in high regard by the FSF and that is my source.
Laptops being taken at the border is definitely something I would
consider important, especially when border agents need no cause to do
so. As far as Linux, IMO the use of Open Source software, including
Linux, is the best way to avoid your data being compromised. I was
not making a political point by bring this up. I hope it does not
turn into one.

Since I am in Baton Rouge, I am unable to show up at meetings. I do
like the idea of this topic being looked at in a SocalLinux meeting.
Encryption of hard drives, file systems and hidden partitions would be
interesting to explore, however I am not insisting anyone look at such
things due to this information. If this is not important to you, then
forget about it.

"I am under the opinion that because of the vast numbers of people who will
scoff at conspiracy theories, and just ignore the issues, because they
have better
things to do, that these problems are bound to spiral out of control. I'm not
claiming to be a prophet.....I am just under that opinion. "

I see what you are saying, however, I am not posting this on digg, I
am posting this on a LinuxUsers List. In doing this, I feel I am
avoiding the people that might "spiral out of control".
