Personally I would recommend you try Ubuntu and select the option to
only install GNU/GPL software at the beginning of the install. That
way your not using any of the proprietary stuff you don't like.

However for a distro like Slackware and if you are really interested
in hiring somoene I think the ideal person for the job would by
Randall Whitman who is on this mailing list. If he is interested.
