The only aspect of the Pre that really got me interested was the
wireless charging pad. The phone itself I don't have any real interest in.
The CDMA doesn't help its case either.
Right now I've got a G1, running the HTC Hero(the third HTC android phone,
due out sometime in summer) customized version of Android. A new UI called
Rosie (Youtube for videos if you're interested) really gives the phone a wow
factor. I loved the phone from day one running stock firmwares, but I
didn't have people asking, "Hey, What phone is that?" until recently when
running the Hero build.

Android, for me, overshadows any excitement for other brands just due to its
potential.
