In looking at a better (faster) netbook option, I'm interested in something with an Atom N280 processor, and I've read some of these reviews about the Nvidia ION processor, such as this one: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=nvidia_ion_linux&num=1
It seems like there is an extension (VDPAU) which is yet another proprietary Nvidia hook, but when you have all the drivers and everything supported properly, you get really fast performance with low energy needs (longer battery life when you use less CPU, etc.) Does anyone on the list have a recent enough netbook or Atom cpu'd device with the ION GPU?
