I'm using XBMC live, which is based on karmic, it uses VDPAU to offload onto
the video card.  XBMC live comes with the Nvidia drivers, but I believe to
get the most out of it you want to install the drivers from nvidia.com.
 Next to my SSD it is the best purchase I have made in a long time
