"Issues he notes are hardware related (digital camera support is different) and some of his CD-ROM's don't work (presumably Windows apps purchased on CD ROM). But he reports things to be trouble free."
This is really a problem with every OS. Linux does not have a corporation like Apple or M$ behind it to fix these problems. I agree, hardware compatibility is a big issue, IMO the biggest, which is blocking the spread of Linux as a Desktop. 50% (give or take) of the Linux kernel is drivers. "Ubuntu is the new OS X -- stable, "works automagically", and when you open the hood, it's very configurable." I do not think of OS X when I am using Ubuntu at all, nor vice versa. The only thing about OSX that reminds me of Ubuntu is Apple's poor attempt at desktop effects (Compiz like effects) and the OSX bash terminal. The same can be said about Windows 7 (woohoo SNAP windows!).. ::grin:: Chris... On Mon, Dec 21, 2009 at 8:03 AM, Roger E.
