I had been jumping in around Alpha 3 on Ubuntu releases. Generally by A3 things are settling in pretty good and somewhat reasonably sable. This last one (9.10) was not so good at A3 IMHO. As I recall 9.04A3 wasn't as great 8.10A3 either, but 9.10A3 was particularly unstable all over. With 10.04 still in A2 I wouldn't put to much faith in what is working/not working. Lots of things will change from A2 to RC.
