Well, I think there's a lot of truth in Google's official response. I think as
Linux users, we all recognize that there's no reason for them to store that
information....and I'm sure they have privacy policies to that effect. They
use it so their algorithms can come up with relevant ads, and that's all.

It could be an invasion, but if you have something private, you can encrypt it
or put it in an encrypted file. Maybe they can break it, but why would they?

I wouldn't worry about it, though I also wouldn't rely on Google too much. They
might not be around forever.
