I'm a few years removed from the college job hunt, and I didn't have summers
so I didn't exactly deal with the same thing, but ill share my experiences
and logic. You will not find a summer "Tech" job. Companies generally don't
want to invest the time to bring you up to speed to have you leave at the
end of the summer. Most also don't want part time work. If those are the
things you want I would advise targetting smaller companies, realestate
agencies and stuff like that. They won't want you full time, because of cost
and they won't worry too much about you leaving. You won't make a lot of
money, but it will add to your resume when you approach graduation and seek
a fulltime job via somewhere you find on dice, et cetera.

comes to local programming jobs. Does anyone on the list know of a tech
company that might be hiring?

to a local company that's accepting applications would certainly be nice. My
school basically ignores the computer people, so the career services office
doesn't track any companies of that sort.
