Could also try pdf2ps or pdftops to convert the file to post script and try 
printing the ps file.

KDE, newest version. It wouldn't open up in my Firefox browser (latest
version) at all; gave me black browser window. When I clicked on black
browser window I got a white browser window. Still nothing. Most .pdf
files work when I do it this way, using the Adobe Reader plugin; some
don't. I browsed to my Downloads directory, got it with wget, started
Adobe Reader, entered the file name; it came up in reader without a
problem. Clicked to print. All three pages printed fine with my HP
OfficeJet Pro, L7680.
