I saw this story on Slashdot last week http://mobile.slashdot.org/story/12/03/08/1324237/chief-replicant-dev-on-building-a-truly-free-android
talking about the Replicant project, which supposedly seeks to have a completely open source version of Android that runs on Android compatible hardware (yet doesn't require any proprietary binary blobs to support the hardware). Has anyone else heard of this yet?
