It's probably CentOS that won't let you.  CentOS is geared more towards 
servers.  If you tried a more desktop-centric distro like Fedora or 
Ubuntu it'd probably autoconfigure a lot more of this stuff.

CentOS was also using incredibly stale software IIRC...  It's been about 
100 days since I last used CentOS, but that was the impression it left 
me with.
